After venturing into brass finishing in 2012, this work became one of our most requested services which led us to assemble a dedicated team to roll it out to the finishing trade. Soon, we were supplying to The Sash Window Workshop, AH Brass and the word just continued to spread!

We provide brass electroplating via our sister business, The Electroplating Company. Following the plating service, your items can have your preferred finish applied.
Your solid brass products will be treated with a long-lasting and durable lacquer that provides a satin sheen. As well as this, we can offer unlacquered and waxed satin finishes for brass, although these will oxidise over time.
At first, brass items will be highly polished and skilfully hand-burnished and distressed. This results in an aged and weather-beaten effect that feels authentic. The item can then be lacquered for longevity or waxed for installation, though this will provide a living finish so it will oxidise.
Brushed brass gives a slightly textured result to give a rustic, worn effect. This is commonly used for metal antiquing and bronzing, and as this is a living finish, it can lighten or darken depending on use.

Some brass finishes are described as ‘living’ which means they will change over time. This change is called rustic patina, which is typically lighter with regular use or darker with less. This is a result of oxidisation, a chemical reaction between the metal and oxygen in the air.
There are many products available that are made for cleaning brass. You may also heard of some natural remedies using a combination of lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda or salt. A stove or air-dried lacquer treatment is often recommended to provide your item with a protective layer.
